Trans Am #4 - The Stunt Car

This Trans Am has a unique story. It was the most modified Trans Am used in the movie. It was also the last one to join the filming schedule. While Trans Ams 1,2 & 3 were used in the 1st week of filming, this car didn't show up until the 2nd week of filming.

When this Trans Am did make its filming debut it was sporting the 1976 Honeycomb wheels, instead of the all new 1977 Snowflake wheels like the other Trans Ams. By the 3rd week of filming, this car had all of it's wheels updated to the Snowflake design for consistency.

The speculation is that this car was acquired locally and modified to look like a 1977 to match the other Trans Ams delivered by Pontiac...in addition to the 1977 mods, it also received the following stunt car modifications:

• 6 point custom roll cage
• Racing bucket seats
• 5 point seat belts
• Fuel cell (stock fuel tank removed)
• Additional inboard rear shocks
• Skid plate

And for the bridge jump:

• Chevy small block race engine
• 4 speed transmission

These unique mods are what help identify Trans Am #4 in the movie. Also the damage it received during the football field jump on September 17, 1976 can be seen on the bridge jump October 7, 1976.
