Introduction
Principal photography for Smokey and the Bandit began in Clayton County, Georgia, on August 30, 1976. During the first week, the production established many of the film's signature locations while introducing the Bandit, Cledus, Carrie, and the Trans Am. Filming included highway driving sequences, Snowman's House, the pond crash, and second-unit photography that would later become iconic scenes in the finished film.
