Smokey and the Bandit was filmed in 1976, which was when America was celebrating its 200th birthday. That means when Smokey And The Bandit turns 50, very soon, America will be celebrating 250 years!

If you look real close you can see lots of references in the movie with lots of Red, White and Blue banners.
