Did you ever notice that we never find out Carrie/Frog's last name in the movie? We don't even find out in the credits of SATB2.
We know all the other major character's last names...
- Bo Darville
- Cledus Snow
- Buford T. Justice
- Junior Justice
- Big Enos Burdette
- Little Enos Burdette
- Hot Pants Hilliard
Why don't we know Carrie's last name? Well there is a reason for that. But you have to know the original script to find out.
Character x-ref: (note these names changed between this script and the final movie)
- Buell Clayton = Buford T. Justice
- Kyle and Dickie = Big and Little Enos
- Kate = Carrie
- Bandit II = Cledus Snow/Snowman
- Bandit I = Bo Darville/Bandit

Two major things you have to understand happened between July 30, 1976 (The date of the screen play above) and August 30, 1976 (filming started):
- Jackie Gleason asked for someone to be in the car with him. The Junior character was not in the July 30, 1976 screen play.
- Universal Studios slashed the budget of the movie just days before they started filming. It was cut by over 20%. They had to re-write and slash parts of the story.
So...if Junior is not part of the original story...what motivation does Buell/Buford have for chasing Kate/Carrie all the way from Texarkana to Atlanta?
Because Kate/Carrie is his actual daughter. (Not future daughter-in-law) But we don't find out until the end of the story.
If they would have put "Kate Clayton" in the list of characters, it would have totally ruined the final reveal.
Of course the story has changed now and Carrie was to be the Sherriff's daughter-in-law, not daughter. So we still don't know her last name. But for fun, us super fans can call her Carrie Clayton. (wink)😉
